‘The Science of Fictions’ adalah sebuah film yang menunjukkan eksplorasi visual dan penceritaan terbaru dari sutradara dan penulis Yosep Anggi Noen.
Film produksi Angka Fortuna Sinema, Kawan Kawan Media, Limaenam Films ‘The Science of Fictions’ akhirnya tayang di bioskop nasional mulai tayang 10 Desember. Sejak pertama kali melaksanakan premier dunia di Locarno Film Festival 2019 (Swiss) dan kemudian berkeliling ke lima belas festival film internasional, film ini kini dapat disaksikan di bioskop yang tersebar di seluruh Indonesia.
Film yang disutradarai dan ditulis oleh Yosep Anggi Noen ini dibintangi oleh Gunawan Maryanto, Ecky Lamoh, Yudi Ahmad Tajudin, Lukman Sardi, Rusini, Asmara Abigail, Alex Suhendra, dan Marissa Anita.
Deretan penghargaan telah didapatkan oleh ‘The Science of Fictions’.
Film ini juga baru saja memenangkan Piala Citra untuk Pemeran Utama Pria Terbaik yang diberikan kepada Gunawan Maryanto. Di penghujung tahun 2019, film ini diganjar tiga gelar dari majalah Tempo yaitu Film Pilihan Tempo, Sutradara Pilihan Tempo (Yosep Anggi Noen), dan Aktor Pilihan Tempo (Gunawan Maryanto).
Di tempat pemutaran perdananya, film ini juga diberi Special Mention, 72 Locarno Film Festival, Concorso Internazionale, 2019.
Reaksi penonton hari pertama tergolong meriah. Iqbal Kurniaone di Twitter memberikan ulasannya, “Ajaib. Gila. Pengalaman nonton yang sangat nggak biasa bagi ane. Sedih dan bangga, sineas Indonesia masih bisa membuat karya luar biasa ini.”
Sedangkan Randy Renaldy yang merupakan penonton pertama dari seluruh bioskop memberikan pujian di Instagram, “Terima kasih telah membuat film yg begitu unik, luar biasa, beda dari yang
lain”.
‘The Science of Fictions’ dimulai kisahnya pada tahun 1960-an, di Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo, Yogyakarta, Siman (diperankan oleh Gunawan Maryanto) melihat proses shooting pendaratan manusia di bulan oleh kru asing. Dia tertangkap penjaga dan dipotong lidahnya. Selama puluhan tahun, Siman bergerak pelan menirukan gerakan astronot di luar angkasa untuk membuktikan kebenaran pengalamannya. Siman dianggap gila.
Film ‘The Science of Fictions’ menjanjikan sebuah eksplorasi visual dan penceritaan yang berbeda dari film-film lainnya. Pengalaman sinema ini makin nikmat jika dirasakan di bioskop. Yosep Anggi Noen yang di film ini berkolaborasi bersama sinematografer
Teoh Gay Hian menjelaskan, “Film ini adalah tentang manusia yang bergerak pelan, jadi kami membicarakan bagaimana seharusnya kamera merekam gerak Siman. Film ini direkam dengan banyak jenis kamera; HD, handycam, GoPro, kamera slowspeed, drone dan juga menunjukkan berbagai jenis kamera di layar termasuk roll film 16 mm. Konsep ini saya rancang sebagai bentuk ‘main-main’ untuk menunjukkan lintasan teknologi audio visual yang aksesnya saat ini semakin mudah, ada di setiap tangan manusia, lekat dengan tubuh dan semakin personal.” Baginya di jaman dulu, produksi moving image hanya bisa dilakukan oleh pihak yang punya kuasa.
“Itu yang mengakibatkan bukti-bukti sejarah seolah hanya bisa dikeluarkan oleh otoritas dan penguasa dan cenderung propaganda. Saat ini, sejarah ditulis oleh masing-masing manusia, lalu ujian berikutnya adalah soal kebenaran; rekaman siapa yang benar-benar benar? Tapi kami bicara ngalor-ngidul sambil ketawa-ketiwi soal konsep-konsep yang nampak rumit ini.”
Inspirasi pembuatan film ini datang kepada Yosep Anggi Noen ketika ia melihat sebuah lahan yang mirip dengan permukaan bulan di Parangkusumo, Bantul.
“Lahan bernama Gumuk Pasir itu memikat sekali secara visual dan lingkungan di sekitar Gumuk juga menarik, ada karaoke murahan, ada lokasi manasik haji, ada lokasi tempat persembahan
kepada Ratu Laut Selatan, ada tempat ibadah, bahkan pada waktu-waktu tertentu ada praktek prostitusi terselubung di sana,” ceritanya.
“Saat saya menemukan betapa hiruk pikuknya sebuah tempat tersebut, saya tergelitik juga untuk mengemas cerita di sana. Saya lalu berangkat dari bulan, bagaimana jika pendaratan manusia di bulan itu ternyata pengambilan gambarnya dilakukan di Gumuk Pasir? Saya menghubungkan dengan konteks politik di Indonesia tahun 60-an, yang sampai saat ini kita tahu bahwa ada ruang
gelap sejarah saat perpindahan kekuasaan dari Soekarno ke Soeharto; berdarah-darah sekaligus manipulatif. Pendaratan di bulan sebagai keberhasilan yang dirayakan secara global dan politik yang manipulatif disaksikan oleh Siman, seorang petani biasa, manusia yang sederhana yang dibisukan.”
Produser ‘The Science of Fictions’ Yulia Evina Bhara yang telah berkolaborasi sebelumnya dengan Yosep Anggi Noen di film ‘Istirahatlah Kata-Kata’ mengatakan,
“Ketika disodorkan konsep dan cerita ‘The Science of Fictions’, saya tak ragu dan langsung bersedia terlibat. Pertama, karena cerita Siman buat saya sangat sangat relate dengan kehidupan sehari-hari tapi di saat yang sama juga saya merasa cara tutur film ini belum pernah saya temukan di film Indonesia yang lain. Sebuah tantangan berat karena tokoh utama tidak ada dialog selama film tapi saya yakin dengan visi artistic Anggi dan Gunawan Maryanto pasti akan menghidupkan Siman. Yang paling menarik dari film ini untuk film Indonesia adalah karena film ini memberikan perbendaharaan baru, cara tutur sinema yang berbeda.”
