Raised by Wolves is an hbo max scifi original film directed by Ridley Scott. Ridley Scott is best known for his films Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Hannibal (2001) and The Martian. So the audience already has a little picture of his earlier works and the trailer of this film that has been published before, approximately what the film looks like.
The story line raised by Wolves was written by Aaron Guzikowski ini more mentengkan to the preconceived notion to regulate the order of human life, which when compared to the present conditions such as through two things that must be separated in Western culture ,in contrast to thinking based on Eastern culture that considers it can be harmonized
In the concept of thinking “religion” is made into a firm dividing line in the arrangement of the state order with the thought of “technology” storyline develops.
Android is forbidden to raise human children. But there are two androids called Father and Mother, getting a special mission from their creator, to raise human embryos on a relatively young planet, to restart human civilization, through atheist parenting styles and more reliant on technology.
Mother has higher technological abilities than Father, thus making her a tyrant whose wishes and thoughts “seem” to be the most correct. Mother is given this kind of ability by her creator, but is also given the option to stop herself if according to her consideration, she has strayed from the path of duty given by the creator, the requirements must go through a variety of analyses and certain considerations. Mother’s main task is to protect “humans” from all threats.
Father can be said to be a complementary android, so that its function is more towards giving peace of mind in the form of occasionally throwing humors to keep the rules made by Mother. But Father has the ability to evolve, so it seems that in the future series there will be something related to this encounter.
Meanwhile, in the human world that prohibits androids from raising human children and upholding their religion, there are even more crimes committed on behalf of religion and symbols that it believes in.
The idea of a story about android has this ability as if it feels familiar and usually the android becomes misprogramged or develops into a different with the original purpose created.
But when watching up to three episodes, there is something different about the story idea in this film when compared to other story ideas. In this film the audience will be brought into the realm of children’s minds versus adults, to the thought of the fundamental debate of the essence of humanity itself.
Is it true that android can have more humanity than human beings themselves?
Can a trust be determined or directed? To what extent does the level of human reasoning compare to the level of reasoning of an android?
What happens if religion and technology are finally reunited?
All these questions, you can find the answers in this 10-episode scifi series, and get ready to see the technologies that will be featured in this movie.
Android’s flagship weapon in the form of screams, indeed seems reminiscent of the movie Screamers (1995), moreover there are similarities in the screams. But that’s not all, in two episodes directed by Ridley Scott, there can be many emblems and patterns implying there will be a rule and will give a big surprise in the final round of the story.
For those who want to see Ridley Scott’s debut in a series, don’t forget to first see it on September 3, 2020 on HBO GO.
