On Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the CGV Grand Indonesia, Cinemags this time had the opportunity to interview cast (actor and actress) as well as the film director Wira before the film’s screening began.
Film Wira is a film made by Malaysian national production house ACT 2 Pictures. Yayan Ruhiyan and Ismi Melinda co-acted in the directorial film director Adrian Teh with Malaysian actor Hairul Azreen.
Here’s my interview resume
Director Adrian Teh
As a filmmaker, I always wanted to make movies with a wide variety of genres. In 2018, it was a great time for me to direct an action film called Paskal. Directing action films is very much different from directing both romantic and horror comedy films. Starting from this Paskal movie, I am interested in making a fight-themed movie, because I love watching movies like The Raid. Thanks to the great success of Paskal, Sayapun received a budget enough to make the Wira movie. So as if everything was set up the process.
The film Paskal Lebi is a lot of scenes using pistols, as well as the Wira film more to the empty hand fight to use tools such as knives and others, and films of this style are the films that I directed for the first time. A mature preparation is indispensable for making this kind of film, which is why before filming the players did the training first. The Wira movie is a lot of fights scenes, so it takes a lot of practice. The Budget for the preparation has been prepared to get the best results.
At first, I invited Yayan Ruhiyan to be a choreographer for the fight scenes in Wira’s film. At that time, I was still looking for actors to portray Ifrid, then he thought to ask Yayan Ruhiyan to portray this figure, luckily for the person and Yayan Ruhiyan agreed. Fortunately, Yayan Ruhiyan was pleased to portray the figure Ifrid, otherwise it would not be as interesting as it is today. “Hairul Azreen” is a figure that I have set to portray the figure of Hassan Munas and this is the second collaboration. This movie will continue, just wait and watch in the movie.
The Total filming of this film was 5 (five) months, and I was very satisfied with the film because there was no camera trick, the actors and actresses did alone all the fighting scenes.
Actor and choreographer Yayan Ruhiyan
Choreographer in making a Kore is a script and then of course discuss with the Director, after that we also see who the culprit is through his martial arts, because of course the film is a depiction of that is captured by a highly sensitive camera. If the perpetrator feels comfortable in doing the scene, it will be also enjoyed the results in the video. So I wouldn’t be able to create a different scene far with the foundation of the martial arts, the task of choreographing adapts for the actors to feel comfortable in doing the scene, but it also remained undeviated from what the director wanted. (Note: The base Haizul Azreen is taekwondo, while Ismi is Silat)
The comfort during the filming process with of and the cast was very extraordinary, and so I thanked many thanks to all, even I felt like filming in Hollywood.
This Wira pre production film process is not much different than the one I experienced with The Raid, before doing the process of slimming, we prepare for about 3 (three) months. So not only the martial skills of each player, but see the figure portrayed as Hairul Azreen a commando, then his ability.
Then Ismi Melinda as an MAA fighter with her brother’s character, during the period of preparation is prepared all the time to keep the body shape.
They all practiced from 07.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon for body shape formation, and from 13.00 Noon to 17.00 pm sometimes even up to 19.00 nights, practicing Koreo. It lasts a continuous dive period of 3 (three) months. We have only been for 2 (two) days doing overtime.
Actress Ismi Melinda
I followed the casting alongside many other famous actresses, until I was not convinced that he could get this role. But apparently managed to get, and all thanks to the information from Kang Yayan Ruhiyan, that there was casting for the role in the film Wira.
The quarantined with actors and actresses, but the atmosphere was very pleasant, because I can speak Indonesian to Sundanese when conversing with the choreographer Kang Yayan Ruhiyan himself, so during this period of preparation does not feel far from Indonesia, although it is in Malaysia. Working with director Adrian Teh was very professional, there was no difficulty at all, one thing all all round the time, from the question of invitation was really timely and this made myself salute.
The most memorable scene is the fight scene within the ongoing bus, the drill has been arranged in such a way, with the camera moving out of the bus.
This Film is not much of a blood-simbah, because it is aimed at children (read: 17 years of age).
With me playing in this movie, many people tagged my social media accounts and followers grew, average from Malaysia
(Note: Ismi Melinda got an offer of movie play from Malaysia production house, from her acting in this Wira film)
Actor Hairul Azreen
When I heard Kang Yayang Ruhiyan playing in the film Wira, I was very surprised, because Yayang Ruhiyan had become a famous figure in Malaysia. When I was able to do a fight scene with Kang Yayan Ruhiyan, I got to not believe and was shocked at all.
Later on, after the film Wira aired in Malaysia, many also asked about Ismi Melida, a beautiful but clever actress doing a fight scene. In this Wira movie we don’t use stunt actors, all the scenes are done by the actors and performers themselves.
In this film, my second collaboration with director Adrian Teh was previously the Paskal film.
