Mengenai film Everyday is Lullaby
1.Cinemags : Bisa diceritakan film Everyday is a Lullaby ini mengenai apa?
Anjasmara: Menceritakan seorang penulis bernama Rektra. Dia itu selalu bikin sebuah skenario yang sukses di pasaran, sesuai dengan pasar yang berlaku pada saat itu. Akan tetapi dia tergugah, ingin membuat sesuatu yang bener-bener idealis, gitu. Namun ternyata , tanpa dia sadari dia itu hidup dalam skenario yang dia buat.
Karakter seperti ini , saya baru sekali ini, namun dulu saya juga pernah main film “Koper” , itu juga filmnya film idealis tapi beda karakternya dengan ini. Kalau ini depresi banget.
Tuta: Film ini sebenarnya adalah ketakutan saya, karena film ini kan berbicara mengenai kematian. Film ini menceritakan mengenai seseorang yang sebegitu takutnya dengan kematian, sehingga ia menciptakan sesuatu untuk membantu dia agar dia dapat menghadapi kematian itu dengan senyum. Jadi dia membuat sebuah alter ego .
Mungkin film ini adalah merupakan cara saya sendiri untuk belajar. Untuk belajar menerima bahwa umur saya bertambah , terlebih saat saya menyelesaikan film ini pada saat Ashraf Sinclair meninggal. itu merupakan contoh di depan mata saya, dan almarhum meruapakan salah satu teman baik saya.
Jadi maksudnya film ini adalah sebuah film yang saya bikin untuk diri saya sendiri. Juga untuk banyak orang agar mereka bisa berhenti melihat yang namanya akhir bukan sebagai musuh, dan dari sekarang ini sudah belajar untuk menjadikan itu sebagai teman.
Saya tidak mau membuat sebuah film tanpa membuat film ini menjadi sesuatu yang personal bagi diri saya.
Saya tidak mau sebuah film menjadi sesuatu yang artificial saja. Saya tidak mau film ini hanya dibikin untuk menggembirakan orang, tapi orang itu tidak mendapatkan sesuatu dari situ. Penonton harus mendapatkan impact dari film ini.
2.Cinemags : Apakah yang membuat anda tertarik ingin terlibat dalam film Everyday is a Lullaby setelah sekian lama tidak bermain film, apa pertimbangannya?
Anjasmara: Saya sudah lama nggak main film, lalu ditantang bisa nggak main film ini, namun dicasting dahulu. Ya, kalau dicasting dahulu kan hal yang biasa ya, jadi ikut. Setelah itu dikabari kalau saya dapat perannya. Ya Alhamdulillah.
Saya ingin saja membikin sesuatu karena film ini bukan untuk komersil, film ini khusus dibuat hanya untuk festival saja.Jadi ya kenapa tidak?Atas dasar itulah makanya saya mau berperan dalam film ini.
3. Cinemags: Bagaimana cara mendalami karakter sebagai Rektra? Apakah ada pendekatan khusus yang dilakukan untuk menghidupkan karakter ini?
Anjasmara: Wah caranya … Tuta sebagai director mengguide saya luar biasa. Dia punya cara sendiri yang unik kalau menurut saya, sehingga saya secara natural bisa menjadi karakter Rektra itu sendiri.
Caranya Tuta itu sangat aneh sekali deh. Beda dengan cara-cara director-director lain yang pernah saya bekerja sama selama ini.
Tuta itu is very smooth pada saat menggiring kita menjadi karakter itu dan dia minta saya tidak bermain menjadi karakter Rektra ini namun menjadi karakter Rektra itu sendiri, sehingga saya pada saat di lokasi syuting, saya banyak banyak skip. Kok adegannya seperti itu ya? Kok saya seperti itu ya? Jadi saya banyak mengalami sesuatu hal yang luar biasa baru dan saya semacam trance . Kok bisa gitu ya?
Pada saat saya melihat hasilnya, saya kaget sendiri. “Kok bisa ya?” . Ini bener-bener bukan Anjas yang main, tapi sesuai dengan karakter yang diharapkan director gitu loh. Saya cek, saya bener-bener kaget melihat hasilnya.
Saya dikasih waktu khusus yang luar biasa banyaknya oleh Tuta, untuk bisa masuk kedalam karakternya dan pada saat kita mau take sekalipun, kalau misalnya saya sudah kembali pada diri saya sendiri, Tuta selalu bilang , ” Aa … tolong balikin lagi ke Rektranya. Ini masih ada Anjas nya”. Lalu setelah dia lihat itu bukan saya, ya baru dia mau take, kalau nggak minta dibalikin dulu.
Tuta : Aku dari dulu selalu punya pemikiran kalau pemainku itu akan main bagus, kalau dia tidak merasa dirinya di direct . Makanya saya sama Aa itu minta waktu jauh hari, reading itu buat aku penting tapi bukan reading baca skenario namun yang penting dapat yang diinginkan dari Aa akan karakter tersebut tanpa Aa sadar. Pemain datang ke set sudah menjadi karakternya, karena sudah berbulan-bulan mengetahui.
Dari awal, aku sudah sampaikan ke Aa, bahwa aku akan bermain “psikologi” dengan dirinya, ” I am gona play with your mind“. Jadi saat syuting saya lebih menekankan pada reaksi. Ada beberapa scene yang saya direct ke Aa dan yang saya direct ke Raihaanun itu beda. Jadi Aa nggak tahu apa yang ia terima di lapangan. Itu yang membuat honesty nya jadi keluar.
3. Cinemags: Apakah harapan akan film ini kedepannya?
Anjasmara: Ya, mudah-mudahan saja film ini bisa mendapatkan apresiasi di setiap festival yang diikut sertakan. Semoga bisa memperoleh kategori dari setiap kategori yang diikutsertakan di setiap film festival yang diikutkan. Mudah-mudahan. Rencana akan diikutsertakan pada setiap festival yang diadakan, mudah-mudahan setidaknya masuk ke dalam festival tersebut.
4. Cinemags: Berapa lama proses pembuatan film ini?Serta gambar-gambarnya simetris dan sendu, apakah ada maksud tersendiri?
Tuta : Kita syuting cuma 9 hari. Plus 1 hari underwater. Jadi kalau nggak salah 10 hari kita syuting. Kalau gambar-gambar dalam film ini saya ingin se muted hidup kita. Jadi saya ingin frame saya itu sebagaimana kita melihat dunia.
Justru apa yang ada dalam frame itulah yang menjadi cerita dalam hidup kita. Saya ingin penonton dibawa masuk ke dalam film sejak opening filmnya menjadi bagian dari film atau bahasanya adalah sang penulis yang digambarkan oleh Anjas. Gambar yang ada dalam film adalah gambar cara mata kita memandang kejadian yang ada dalam kehidupan kita sehari-hari.
Kita nggak pakai story board. Itulah sebabnya saya demand sekali kepada para pemain untuk meluangkan waktu banyak dengan saya. Saya dan Aa di set itu udah nggak ngomong lagi. Lihat-lihatan saja sudah tahu, itu karena buildnya panjang sekali.
Saya punya banyak versi Rektra dan saat castingpun lumayan eksperimental. Jadi pada saat para pemain memberikan karakternya, itu adalah Rektra yang sudah ia fahami, bukan Rektra yang ia coba memenuhi keinginan saya kayak gimana, gitu. Dari para pemain itu, baru saya lihat chemistry antar mereka. Siapa yang bisa memberikan reaksi paling jujur.
Mengenai festival di luar negeri
1.Cinemags: Apakah film Everyday is Lullaby memiliki muatan lokal Indonesia, hingga dapat diputar pada Busan International Film Festival 2020?
Anjasmara: Kalau saya bilang sih, film ini pop banget. Realis banget apa yang terjadi di Jakarta. Itu aja sih. Kalau budaya lokalnya nggak diangkat. Bahasanya saja bahasa Indonesia (tertawa).
Tuta: Saya pribadi membuat film sebagus mungkin. Festival Busan ini bukanlah sesuatu yang saya harapkan, karena saya bukanlah sutrdara yang besar di festival. Jadi kalau ditanya kenapa bisa masuk Busan, itu juga sesuatu yang sangat surprising bagi saya pribadi, gitu. Saya juga nggak nyangka bisa diputar di Festival Busan. Kita masuk melalui jalur yang sangat proper, tidak submit, submit biasa sesuai apa yang diminta sama mereka.
Mungkin karena Aa mainnya bagus banget. Semua orang yang nonton film itu, seratus dari seratus yang tidak melihat poster maupun tahu itu butuh waktu untuk menyadari itu Anjasmara.
Biasanya di menit kelima atau keenam, baru mereka yang menonton bertanya , “Apakah yang main Anjasmara?”
2. Cinemags: Menurut anda apakah penonton di luar mampu menerima film ini? Apa alasannya?
Anjasmara : Tuta dan teman-teman produksi berusaha untuk membuat film ini sejujur mungkin baik secara line cerita, peng-adeganan, lokasi syutingnya dibuat se real mungkin. Jadi harapan kami, film ini dapat diterima oleh penonton yang menyaksikan film ini diluar sana.
Film ini sangat-sangat natural banget, tentang hubungan seorang pria dan wanita. Nggak dibuat-buat, nggak dibikin aneh-aneh. Nggak dibikin njelimet gitu.
3. Cinemags: Dengan mengikutsertakan dalam festival di luar negeri. Apakah ada harapan tertentu?
Anjasmara : Mudah-mudahan saja , kalau film ini bisa memenangkan salah satu piala yang ada di festival yang kita ikuti. Pengharapannya bahwa orang mengenali bahwa Indonesia nggak cuma film horor doang , tapi banyak juga genre-genre, banyak juga sineas-sineas Indonesia yang bisa melakukan atau membuat sebuah film yang sebagaimana layaknya lah begitu. Jadi bisa ada spesialis horor, bisa ada spesialis drama, spesialis action dan lain-lain.
Saya dikabari bahwa film ini akan diputar di Busan International Film Festival 2020, dan saya deg-deg kan . Saya tidak berangkat ke Busan karena pandemi Covid-19 ini. Biasanya pada pelaksanaan festival yang lalu, film yang diputar akan mendapatkan undangan dan diharapkan kehadirannya, namun kali ini semua dibatalkan.
